Do you use Freudian or Jungian analysis techniques?

Both Freudian and Jungian analysis techniques are used in the field of psychology, each with its own unique approach. Freudian analysis, based on the work of Sigmund Freud, focuses on the role of the unconscious mind, repressed thoughts, traumatic memories, and sexuality as a driving force behind behavior and psychopathology. On the other hand, Jungian analysis, developed by Carl Jung, emphasizes the importance of the unconscious as a source of wisdom and guidance for psychological growth. It also focuses on symbolic imagery in dream analysis and the concept of archetypes. While both approaches involve the interpretation of dreams, they differ in their views on the unconscious and the role of sexuality in human motivation. Jungian analysis can only be practiced by official Jungian analysts who have completed a specific training program approved by the International Association for Analytical Psychology. The two approaches have significant differences in their theoretical foundations and methods, and therapists may choose to use one or the other based on their training and the needs of their clients.

Therapy Session

How long does each therapy session take?

Our therapy sessions typically last between 30 minutes and one hour, a period of time known as the “Therapeutic hour”. This allotment of time allows for meaningful engagement and provides the therapist with time to prepare for the next session. However, the length of the session can change based on the type of therapy that you need. For instance, couples therapy sessions usually last 75 minutes to 90 minutes to accommodate both partners. The first session with an individual therapist may be longer, typically in the 80 to 90 minute range. This allows for the initial intake process. Group sessions typically last between 50 and 90 minutes to address the needs of all group members. The duration of a therapy session is influenced by the type of therapy and the specific clinical circumstances of the individual or group involved.
